Hey there, time traveller! Manitoba Justice Minister Andrew Swan this week told Free Press reporter Larry Kusch that he plans to write a letter to Craigslist "in the hope that they'll voluntarily pull those. Underage girls are already being commercially sexually exploited in Winnipeg.
A quick drive down the streets where the girls and women congregate will easily turn up kids who are barely into adolescence. Many more aren't visible because they're kept inside houses and tricked out to anyone who shows up with cash.
InI wrote a series of stories about sexually sold children. Some of the youngest I found were between eight and The older kids, still well under 18, were put on the street or sold at parties. Some were forced to trade sex for food and shelter.
Children would make as little as five dollars to perform oral sex on men. Estimates varied, but between 70 and 90 per cent of sexually exploited Winnipeg children were aboriginal. It's unlikely that grim statistic has changed.
The cesspool that is online "dating" or escort services didn't cause this repulsive and illegal behaviour. I'm not convinced that forcing Craigslist to drop the escort-service section will make a difference. If someone wants to have sex with they don't have to make much of an effort in Winnipeg. The escort service listings read like pathetic Penthouse letters.
Every woman has a 40 DD bust and they're all compliant and eager to please. They're also, although many claim to be from such far-flung places as Elmwood and River Heights, women who sell sex in downtown hotels and rented rooms and just pretend to be average housewives or bored university students.
I called a few of these women and none of them surprise!
What was interesting was a of them all of whom claimed to be independent contractors shared phone s. The same sleepy voice answered each time.
The proposed ban on the has stirred up controversy online. One charmer posted this: " H ey girls, scam is up. Manitoba is requesting that Craigslist pull the erotic service section here.
And it will happen as in Ontario and the U. Great news, guys, no more stupid prices. Make it tougher for women to satisfy men in hotel rooms and you'll have more women hurt and humiliated on street corners. Here's one of the : "Are you looking for some fun in a clean safe environment?
Well you can come on over to my place downtown and we can have some fun. Be it for a short visit or bring a bottle of wine and stay a while. I provide an all inclusive for a reasonable rate.
Your satisfaction guaranteed. I have long, long dark hair, bright seductive blue bedroom eyes that love to look up at you, I love to massage and cuddle as well.
There's always more. Now, no one is going to openly advertise children for sale.
It's illegal. That's not to say it's not happening. In this often sick old world of ours, nothing much can surprise me.
But Andrew Swan and other politicians shouldn't be focusing their efforts on Craigslist. They should take a walk in many of our neighbourhoods and ask themselves why year-olds aren't being protected from the men who abuse them.
Then they should do something about it. The Winnipeg Free Press invites you to share your opinion on this story in a letter to the editor.
